Why did Eve eat from the Tree of Good and Evil?

Why did Eve eat from the Tree of Good and Evil?

We begin the Jewish new year with the first book Genesis and the reading of Bereshith, ” In the Beginning”. This Torah portion reveals how our world was created, who we really are, our life purpose, and how we can create joy and meaning in our lives today. So much to learn in this chapter. My previous book New Age Judaism reveals many of these deeper Kabbalistic teachings.

In celebration of my newest book  “Biblical Women Who changed the World” that came out a few weeks ago, I want to focus now on the story of Adam and Eve.  We all know the story of how Eve ate the forbidden fruit and then gave it to Adam to eat. Most of us were taught that Eve brought sin and death into the world because of this act. The Bible records the punishments for this” sin”: Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden, The serpent that tempted the woman to eat of the forbidden fruit was cursed to craw on its belly, eat dust and have enmity between him and womankind for all time. Because of Eve’s action, a woman would now experience pain in childbirth, She will need her husband more than her husband will need her and her husband would rule over her. Finally, because man listened to the voice of his wife, he now has to work by the ‘ sweat of his brow” to survive.

There are people who reject this biblical story as misogynistic, a story written by men to justify the oppression of women in all cultures throughout time. But is there not a much deeper and more true reading to this story? The story of Eve, known as Chava ” THE MOTHER OF ALL LIVING’ is considered the archetype for women for all times. According to Kabbalah, the secrets of creation and all future prophecies are encoded in this story of Adam and Eve.

In an imaginary interview with each biblical woman in my newest book, Eve is given a voice to explain her motivation for doing what she did beyond what is recorded in the Biblical text. These interviews are an outpouring of my heart and soul but are also faithfully grounded in Midrashic and Kabbalistic teachings. In my new understanding, Eve is not evil but rather she demonstrates leadership in guiding man in how to live a meaningful and love filled life. Was she a heroine? Was she simply tricked by the serpent, naive, or did she have a noble intention as stated in the interview with her?  You will have the opportunity to judge her and find yourself in this story.

THIS FUNDAMENTAL BIBLICAL STORY ABOUT MAN AND WOMAN AND ITS DEEPER TEACHINGS AND SECRETS FOR HOLY INTIMACY IS RELEVANT TO MEN AND WOMEN TODAY.

These teachings are also revealed in my previous book The Secret Legacy of Biblical Women: Revealing the Divine Feminine. Many men and women told me that this chapter was by far the most important and transformational for them personally.  Read the reviews on Amazon. The difference between the books is the following: This newest book includes additional information about world events and biblical prophecies, particularly in regard to America. The Secret Legacy is more about Kabbalistic teachings on the revelation of the Divine Feminine.

” BUT WHY DID YOU DO IT EVE? WHY DID YOU EAT OF THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL?

Eve:” Like women throughout the ages, I have always been guided throughout my life by the desire for love and relationship. Men like to love, but love is life to a woman. There is a deep yearning in the heart of the feminine for love. Please know this about me when you seek to understand why I did what I did.

I know that I have been blamed for bringing sin into the world. I have been blamed for bringing chaos and death into the world, My action has regrettably been used to oppress women. The suffering endured by women of all cultures throughout time is an unfortunate legacy, a profound burden, and even a sacrifice that women, including myself have borne since the beginning of time.

My legacy will be redeemed in the future. What I did and what women have done for all humanity has not yet been understand nore fully appreciated. I now the truth will become clear in the right time. When it is understood, all of humanity will have profound appreciation and respect for me and for all women. All will know that what I did was necessary to move life forward. May my legacy be redeemed in your time.”
